Zoe Saldana (born June 19 1978) was born to Asalia Saldana & Aridio Saldana in Passaic New Jersey. Her parents, Aridio and Asalia have both been Puerto Ricans. Her mother is from Puerto Rico and her father was Dominican. She and her family moved from Queens, NY in the Dominican Republic when she was 10-years-old; they stayed there for seven years. Zoe discovered a keen passion for dancing while living abroad. Her first training was with the ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy to learn ballet, as well as many other styles of dance. While her education did provide an excellent outlet for the energetic and enthusiastic youngster, it would also prove to be a fortunate precursor to the beginning of the professional career of an actor.
