Nathalie Emmanuel

Nathalie Joanne Emmanuel was born on March 2, 1989. Emmanuel started her career in acting in theater in the late 1990s as she was offered roles in various West End productions such as the musical The Lion King. Her birthplace was Southend-on-Sea in Essex, England, on March 2nd, 1989. Her mother is Dominican, and her father is of half-Saint Lucian and half English descent. She has an older brother. Emmanuel remembers that her mother was the first person to realize her interest in acting when she was at St Hilda's School. It was closed in the year 2014. The Westcliff High School For Girls grammar school followed. In an interview with New York Daily News, she stated, "When my mom was three, she always caused drama, so she suggested that I channel that in a proper way, and so I began learning to act, sing, and dancing classes." At the age of 10, she played Young Nala in the West End's version of The Lion King. Then, she was cast as Missandei in HBO's fantasy drama Game of Thrones. In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, she confirmed that she heard about her winning the role while she was working at a store selling clothes as a shop assistant. Emmanuel was elevated to a regular cast member of the show in the year 2015. Missandei was the sole prominent character who was female of color in the show. And her funeral scene, which took place during her time in chains was not popular with viewers who viewed it as an instance of fridging , and also evoked an image of slavery.Emmanuel then told The Guardian: The reaction to the death of Missandei was so big because she was the only one. I'm convinced that many of those who felt excluded or marginalized felt a connection with her or felt represented by her especially women of color. There was a lot of pain by her death and tragically tragic. They're targeting the only woman of color.
